May Happenings

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile, but I wanted to update you on what's been going on. The pictures did not upload the way I wanted and I couldn't move them, so this post is out of order. On the 15th Rob graduated from seminary. It was a great day, we went lunch at his favorite sandwich shop in deerfield and then went to a bakery to "kill" time. The bakery was so nice and and had the tastiest treats. As we were finishing eating Brian Urlacher walked in with his family. I was so excited but when I made eye contact with him I could tell he was dissappointed that I knew who he was. So I played it cool. I could tell he wanted to be normal. But how exciting! A great graduation present to my husband. Rob told the story so great at encounter sunday night, you should listen to it on the podcast. There is a video on facebook of Rob walking on stage. You can check that out also if you want. We then headed to CiCi's for dinner with the family. What a great day! Last year at this time I didn't know how we would make through the year, with Rob's school and work schedule I was afraid I wouldn't ever see him. But God was so good and I realize it wasn't so bad after all.
The Graduate
The Penner Girls sent this: It is a mug of flowers that looks like beer and says "Cheers to the graduate" Thanks Girls! We miss you!

Rob and Ben went on a date to the Cubs game. They had a Blast. Ben had relish for the first time and really liked it, he said "it was very sour, but good"

Go Cubs Go!

On April 28th we had the Awana closing ceremony, this was Addie's last year in Cubbies, it's hard to believe she will in Sparks next year.
I had a great Mother's Day the kids gave me some great gifts, sudoku books, candle holders, homemade cards. Rob gave me roses and a date night. The kids wrote such nice things in their cards. Addie said "Mom , I love you so much, I cover her with love, you are so special, I love you because you protect me. Ben wrote " I like her, she is so beautiful, she does alot of stuff for me and she takes me outside. Cam doesn't talk much but I know he loves me alot! Addie made a cute treasure map at school with her picture on it also. Here is a picture of my mother's day loot.

Easter Weekend

*****There are pictures of Easter Weekend on Facebook*******
We had a great weekend! Starting on Good Friday we watched a veggie tales easter movie and then read from the bible about Jesus' death. We are excited to announce that after hearing those stories Benjamin accepted christ as his savior! He was so excited to tell everyone that "Jesus is in my heart". We love him so much and pray he becomes a man who loves and serves the Lord. Saturday we headed to the easter egg hunt at church. The kids had a great time in the bounce house, playing games and on the egg hunt. We then headed to my mom's so she could braid Addie's hair, I wanted it to be crimpy for easter, then we headed to the mall to get some earrings for Addie, we had lunch in the food court. After that headed home to color eggs, then bath and bed. Sunday morning the kids opened their baskets from Rob and I. We went to church and Ben was on stage with his sunday school class ( there is a video of this on my facebook). We took our Durbin family pictures and headed to my parents house. After that we went to Uncle dave's house, and the kids went on another egg hunt there. It was a great weekend, filled with lots of family time and one that we will cherish forever.

Pictures of the kids and Addie's new school

I like this one, it makes me smile.

He's really into toy story these days.... it's his favorite thing right now.

Addie's first day on the school bus. She loved it! I cried after she left. Just nervous about trusting someone you don't know with your child.....
Some of you know that Addie was being tested with the school district for some fine motor skill delay stuff. Those weeks were though, going to ALOT of meetings and tests. It felt like she was under a microscope, everything she said and did they seemed to write down. Well those tests are over and they decided that she should go to a preschool with a smaller class size and where she can get some occupational therapy. We were so happy that she will be getting the help she needs, and we like that she will be getting more one and one time with the teacher. She is a really smart girl, but she does struggle with some motor stuff so hopefully this early intervention will be a big help. Thanks to everyone for praying for us.

Sledding!

We went to this awesome retaining pond in mount prospect to go sledding with some friends. We let Addie go down with her friend "red". It was hilarious, as soon as they took off she feel back onto his lap and he had to steer and guide the sled down, there was a group of people at the bottom and he totally managed to avoid them! No pictures of that though. It was a great time.
He did not like his snow suit

Addie's Five!

Today is Addie's fifth birthday, I cannot believe it, time really has flown by. She used to be so teeny tiny now she's going to start kindergarten in the fall. We love her so much and could not imagine our lives without her. She's so outgoing and social, she inspires me. I love her personality, and she's super funny. I love you sweet girl! Thanks for being you, and I pray you grow up to be a woman who loves the Lord and continues to love people. Happy Birthday!
